Dollars for doughnuts it's a staged photo - set up a scaffold, frame the shot, assistant tosses ball off scaffold, player moves into shot to make the catch, >click!<. Since the title indicates the shot was taken in Florida but she plays for Ft. Wayne, it's seems likely it was during Spring training.

Jason PainterFrom the looks the image it was lit somewhere around Dick Bass's feet, more than likely on camera flash, could have been mounted on a bracket. Cool image indeed.
