Bostock & Wombwell's Menagerie. 'Captain Fred Wombwell in the cage with the lioness Mary at Leicester in 1927. She had saved his life a few weeks previously when she intervened in a cage dispute with the lion Wallace' (from book 'A Zoo on Wheels' by Dr. J. Midlemiss.

The lower photograph is a part of the photograph showing Dr Gillaume Benjamin Amand Duchenne (1806 - 1875) and his assistant performing their 'Faradism' experiment on a live subject. This is so classic! I remember seeing those photos for the first time -- I was staring in awe and thinking this was too strange to be true. And it was true. It's in the photos! I guess that was one of the first times when I really understood the power of photography. :) (Take what I wrote with a small wink, please. There is some truth to it, though.)

This is really quite humorous and with no malice intended. The law of physics would eject these pumpkins with a few shakes of the cow's head. I do not recall sending out Halloween greetings.

are you saying the pumpkins were placed on the cows head? It looks to me like the woman came over to the cow to milk it and found something frightful as a prank. the pumpkins are just decor for the scene. you think?
