Possibly the Reynolds Airways Fokker FVIIb-3m aircraft involved in the 17 Sep 1927 crash near Dunellen, NJ (just west of New York City).

Home struck by a severed wing panel precipitating the fatal plane crash of Consolidated PB4Y-2, BuNo 59554, in San Diego on 22 November 1944. Shortly after takeoff at 12:20 p.m., the left outboard wing of the airplane separated. The airplane immediately went out of control and crashed near a residential area in Loma Portal, a short distance west of the airfield. The wing panel struck the roof of a house at 3121 Kingsley Street. All six crew members were killed. The house was occupied but there were no persons injured inside. The wing section was recovered and the cause of the separation was quickly discovered. 98 of the 102 bolts which secured it to the inner wing section had never been installed. Two workers who were responsible for installing these missing bolts, and two inspectors who had signed off the work as having been properly completed, were fired.

This is a photo of the body of Lt. Howard W. Keefer (USAAC). Keefer was piloting a US Army Air Corps Boeing PW-9D (Ser. A.C. 28-37) fighter when it collided in mid-air with a Maddux Air Lines Ford Trimotor (NC9636; c/n 5-AT-10), on April 21, 1929, causing both aircraft to crash upon/near Manzanita Canyon in San Diego. Keefer was killed when he jumped from his stricken aircraft and opened his parachute too soon, causing it to become entangled with his airplane as it plummeted to the ground (note the parachute risers adjacent to the aircraft's crumpled rudder). In addition to Keefer, all five persons aboard the Trimotor perished as a result of the crash.
