F-94C-1-LO, s/n 50-1059. Assigned to 46th FIS. Disappeared without a trace 16 March 1957. The crew was pilot 1Lt. Henry Charles Nicolay and radar intercept officer 1Lt. Harold A. Lewis. They were part of a four ship flight en route from Bunker Hill AFB, IN to Wurtsmith AFB, MI. As the flight approached their destination 1st. Lt. Nicolay’s F-94C dropped out of formation and did not respond to radio calls from the flight leader. Heavy weather and darkness are thought to be factors in the loss of the F-94C and its crew, who are presumed to have crashed into Lake Huron.
