I grew up in Detroit in the 1940s and 50s. There was an airbase north of the city at Mt. Clemens. They had at least one squadron of F-89Ds and we used to see them high and low all the time. Very big airplane!

I lived near Hughes Airport in Culver City, CA. For quite some time they had a Scorpion based there doing flight testing of I presume weapons, missiles, or electronics. It was an interesting jet. Saw my first one around 1958.
