F-105D-20-RE, s/n 61-0116. Assigned 563rd TFS. To 562nd TFS, 23rd TFW 1965. To 354th TFS, 355th TFW Takhli AB. Thailand 1965-1966. Shot down 20 July 1966 by ground fire 10 miles south Hoa Binh, SW Hanoi, North Vietnam. The pilot, Col. William H. Nelson, was KIA. F-105D-20-RE, s/n 61-0121. Assigned 49th TFW. To 562nd TFS, 23rd TFW 1965. To 355th TFW 1966. Ran out of fuel in dogfight with a Mig-21 and crashed 11 July 1966 near Muang Pakxan, Laos. The pilot, Major W.L. McClelland, ejected safely and was rescued. Vietnam had claimed they shot the F-105 down.

Wild Weasel aircraft used for Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD) mission. It carries HARM (Homing Anti Radiation Missile) designed to lock on to enemy air defense radar emissions and destroy the radar units used to direct Surface to Air Missiles (SAM) at US aircraft.

Republic F-105B-15-RE Thunderchief 57-5790 (0-75790) of the NJ ANG's 141st FS 108th TFW from McGuire AFB, NJ. This a/c flew with the USAF Thunderbirds during their brief usage in 1964 and later crashed during an approach on 2 Feb 71 (pilot survived).
