"One of the more interesting fore-cars of the era was the 1914 “Dayton Tri-Car.” Also known as the Dayton Chemical Fire Fighting Unit, it carried 100 feet of hose, 35 gallons of chemical fire retardant, two three-gallon hand extinguishers, a pick ax, crowbar, two lanterns, a 12-foot extension ladder, and reserves of both sulfuric acid and soda. Powered by a 9 hp Spacke twin, it also carried two men and could reach a speed of 45 mph."

  @jamica1: Most likely, since the two pictures of the fire engine are almost certainly in Brooklyn at the race track used for the Astor motor-car racing cup in October 1915:

  This location appears to be the taxiway for Holtville Auxiliary Airfield also known as Holtville Outlying Field (USGS topo map 1976). Some present-day aerial photos show Xs painted on the runway, suggesting they are not in service. Photo may be near 32°20'28"N 115°16'29"W.
