  Buddy is probably one of his sons. See www.nnhs65.com/02-01-10-NNHS-Bud-Lankes.html "John M. 'Bud' Lankes, 92, passed away Jan. 30, 2010. He was born on April 6, 1917, in Buffalo, N.Y., to Julius J. and Edee Bartlett Lankes. He had been a Peninsula resident since 1925. Mr. Lankes graduated from Morrison High School in 1933, and attended Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. He graduated from the Bliss Electrical School in Takoma Park, Md., now Montgomery College, in 1939. In 1982, he retired from Newport News Shipbuilding, after a 42-year career as an electrical designer. He was a member of the Peninsula Retired Men's Club." In 1920, the date on the bookplate, he would have been three.
