St Oswalds Church can be seen centre left in front of the Cathedral and the picture was probably taken from the Mountjoy / Hallgarth area on the Southern edge of the city.

Seems to be taken from 54.769652,-1.567869 (WGS84) looking 307* NW. The street in the foreground is the junction of Hallgarth St with Stockton Rd. Some of the houses on Hallgarth St are still there today.
