It is called Maydon Wharf, named after John George Maydon, a prominent local statesman and instigator in the development of Durban Harbour. Maydon Wharf was built alongside a swamp that was known as the Congella Flats, reclaimed for the purpose of stacking cargo and providing warehouse accommodation.
