Douglas World Cruise

    The ship is the American four-funnel destroyer USS Pope (DD-225) on a goodwill tour to Japan in 1924 to back up the coincident arrival of the Douglas World Cruisers flight. The floatplane above should be one of the Douglas DWCs (looks a bit like a Martin SC-1 aka Curtiss CS-1). The writing on te lower right side says location is the port of Kushimoto (Translation by Mr. Hayashi Shigeru).
