"Wacky Golf (several locations along the Grand Strand) can be easily identified by the large fiberglass volcano that appears to be a standard feature of the chain. These courses are somewhat beyond the writer’s ability at description. However I will comment on two holes that deserve comment. One hole involves a small church through which one must play. Don’t be distracted by the quotation above the door – “I am happy to enter the house of the Lord” – or the 6-foot rabbit nearby. Concentration is the point here. A second hole involves a ramp that leads to the belly of a kangaroo. If you are fortunate your shot will enter the plastic pouch, and then emerge from the animal’s tail. Not anatomically correct, but an automatic hole-in-one." The quotation above this church door is actually "I was Glad when they said unto me. Let us go into the House of the LORD." Another mention of Wacky Golf is at www.gethep.net/golf/gg.html "Other Goofy Golf style courses soon began to appear throughout the southern United States. Tennessee had Goony Golf and Jolly Golf. Alabama had Spooky Golf. South Carolina had Wacky Golf."

    Thanks swanq for the background info. In Charlotte, NC in the 1980's we had Sir Goony Golf with it's large orange dinosaur.
