Pounds addressing Brooklyn team (LOC)

This is former Brooklyn Superbas pitcher Bill Pounds addressing the 1916 team as it left Brooklyn on October 6, 1916 to play the Boston Red Sox in the World Series. Presumably, that's him standing in the second street level window from the left, cupping his hands in front of his mouth. The Sun's account of the parade mentions the stop at the Y, but not Pounds. The sun. (New York [N.Y.]) , October 07, 1916, chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn83030431/1916-10-07/ed-... The Bedford Branch of the YMCA is still at the corner of Bedford and Monroe in Brooklyn, now the Bedford-Stuyvesant Branch. This building on the corner is now gone, but in the current Google Street View, the building across Monroe still stands, though now boarded up. www.google.com/maps/@40.685264,-73.954288,3a,75y,122.59h,... A copy of this photo that was auctioned had the following description: "This superb Bain image shows Bill Pounds addressing the Brooklyn Dodgers in front of the YMCA as they prepare to head to Boston for the 1916 World Series. A large crowd is gathered in front of the YMCA and cars are double parked in the street. A few police are on hand to maintain control but the crowd appears to be well behaved. Photo has along its top edge, in white “Pounds Addressing Bklyn Team.” To the right, in black, “4010-4.” Reverse has “Departure of Brooklyns from Brooklyn for Boston Oct. 6, 1916.” www.lelands.com/auction/AuctionDetail/28571/December-2005... "Jeared Wells "Bill" Pounds (March 11, 1878 – July 7, 1936) was a pitcher in Major League Baseball. He pitched in two games during the 1903 baseball season." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Pounds
