    This is Saratoga. The searchlights on the stack are too low to be Lexington. This is probably when Saratoga was freshly arrived on the west coast in 1928 - her horizontal black funnel stripe was painted out in Norfolk that January before heading to the Panama Canal.

    This is actually a photo of USS Saratoga (CV-3), as evidenced by the location of her searchlight platforms on the side of her her funnel. The searchlight platforms for sister ship USS Lexington (CV-2) were located higher on the funnel, as shown in the SDASM photo of Lexington below:
