Fiume was in the news in October 1919. The [New York] Sun., October 05, 1919, Section 5 Pictorial Section, Image 49 described Fiume as the "present storm centre of international politics. Gabriel D'Annunzio, Italian poet and aviator, seized the Dalmatian city, embarrassing Italy and the Entente greatly."
