Lt John Howard Cooke was born near Stockport in 1893, the only son of William & Nancie Cooke.
Gazetted to the 9th Bn Manchester Regiment as a Second Lt as of 14th November 1914.
Gazetted to the Army Service Corps as a Temporary Lt 19th June 1916.
Arrived in France on 11th August 1916.
Mother applied for his medals (BWM & VM) on 18th Febuary 1920.
John is commemorated on the Cheadle Hulme War Memorial.

Mr French went back to the same high position for this one - catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000340276 . Interesting to compare the lack of trams, tall lamps, trees, etc.

The fountain is on the 25" map at GeoHive, dated maybe 1903. That map has electric tram tracks, missing here, which are from 1898.

Robert Craik the "Peunopile Dealer" was living in Blackrock in 1901, but isn't in the 1911 census.

The fountain is from 1860, per the NIAH.

I see the Woodford Bourne building at the far end (now MacDonalds), which is from 1880
