Looked him up on Google and he was a gentleman of the Jewish faith who emigrated from England to Australia and set up in business there. He was very successful and at some point joined the Free Masons where he rose through the ranks and had a distinguished career. I thought the name was a misspelling of the title baron but his name was Barron!

Mrs. Cooke said that her children had stood the exciting experience of the fire and leaving the ship well, but they had no clothes left except what they had on.
