"BAKER, CERES United States Born 24 August 1904 in Newark, New Jersey Died 27 February 1982 in Arlington, Texas Married Raymond Palmer Sackett before August 1924-later divorced Active 1918-1925. Ceres competed in adult events from the young age of 13. A member of the Orange Tennis Club, her game was compared to the male star Vinnie Richards. An article from 1919, when she was only 15, notes she was already better than most women at net and tactics, lacking only "severity" on her ground strokes, in which she favored chops and slices. In 1920 Ceres made the doubles final with Eleanor "Teach" Tennant, falling to Goss/Zinderstein 13-11 4-6 6-3. Married in the mid 1920s, the couple lived in Orange at least up to the 1930, with a son named Ray P born in 1928. They later moved to Texas. Her death certificate indicates she was divorced, but was signed by her ex-husband." www.tennisforum.com/58132594-post3379.html
