I think it's this Count Andrassy (Gyula the Younger, 1860-1929): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gyula_Andr%C3%A1ssy_the_Younger He was in the news in 1915, urging peace in Europe and increasing democracy in Hungary.

pennylrichardsca, Despite the age difference between the two photos, I'm inclined to agree with your identification! Several key facial features seem like a match. Thanks for this info!

Could somebody tell where this was taken? Possibly from Erzsébet tér? By the way the correct spelling of the street is Andrássy utca (that time Straße, from German).

Thanks for the inquiry -- but unfortunately all we know is what is recorded in the lecture booklet used for teaching in the 1920s & 1930s...

This is absolutely awesome. I used to work in the building on the left at the corner. I've been on that balcony so many times :)

• Daniel Antal said:

Yes, the caption should be Andrássy Strasse (út)

I've made the change -- we go off the information we have on the photos, which sometimes doesn't get caught and corrected until the Flickrverse points it out. Thanks!
