It might be possible to identify the location from the hangars in this photo
and the B-17 behind looks like General Koenig's 'Bir Hackeim' ,the only French Air Force B-17 which passed through India en-route Indo-China around September 1945

I think the Stirling is at the very large American funded CBI support base at Dum Dum, Calcutta (Kolkata)....the distinctive hangar design shows up in this later photo of a USAF C-124 during the Korean war, 1953 upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/20/C-124_374TCW_...

French Air Force B-17 in background is, General Koenig's 'Bir Hackeim' , the only B-17 they received which flew via Middle East and India to Indochina ca.September 1945
Also visible a B-24, P-47(razor-back, USAAF)? and B-25 -

And based on the hangar in one of the other Stirling photos the airfield is Dum Dum Calcutta

French sources have dated this photo between 12-17 September 1945 based on the schedule of the French VIPs using the B-17...so Jack Canary was presumably on his return journey from the CBI zone
