    although ruth in this photo is not in a traditional stance to receive worship, the way her feet are highlighted holds significance--whether it was intentional or not. she is depicting radha, an incarnation of the hindu goddess lakshmi. a worshiper would touch her feet for a blessing and the goddesses purity would be transffered to the individual despite the belief that feet are one of the more profane parts of the body. they are still more pure than the worshiper, in this case the viewer.
