Police Blotter Listing the Assassination of President Lincoln, 04/14/1865

Wow. Such a mundane entry for such a momentous event. Although he was shot on 4/14 he died the morning of 4/15 so it's interesting they use the word "assassination" a bit prematurely.

Mr. Shaw and son I presume?

Thursday 18 January happened in 1894, 1900, 1906, 1912, 1917, 1923, etc. Admiring the bentwood chair and the fancy telephone.

This is presumably Shaw's Ham rather than Shaw's Department Stores, since the catalogue says meat processing.

If you were seated on the other side of the desk, where the empty chair is, then the Blotter and Ledger would be on the correct side. What is the significance of the large key. There is an old map of Ireland on the wall and a telephone. When was telephone service introduced to Ireland? Very interesting pencil holder. So this could have been an accountant's office or a bank?
