My forebears emigrated from the Netherlands also, coming to Michigan USA in the 1870s. My parents were very excited to return to visit relatives in 1956; they discovered that they could still remember the Dutch language that they had learned as children, from their parents speaking it at home.

  Zevenbergen (wiki) is also the name of a town in the Dutch province of Noord-Brabant, which seems like a more logical explanation of her name.
