On the right is John Glenn.

John Glenn is the only astronaut to fly in both the Mercury and Space Shuttle spacecraft. Before he became an astronaut, on July 16, 1957, Glenn completed the first supersonic transcontinental flight. He is one of 3 astronauts elected to Congress, along with Jack Schmitt (Apollo 17) and Jack Swigert (Apollo 13) (tragically, Swigert died of cancer after the election but before the beginning of his Congressional term).
