    They look like Beauforts

Nick Thanks, I think you are right. The front fuselage was built at Chullora NSW according to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bristol_Beaufort#Australian-built_B... And they made a movie about building Australian Beauforts in 1941. NB from 3:06 - youtu.be/jBfpjPCb2r8

And the provenance of the photo via the Series: NRS 17420 State Rail Authority Archives Photographic Reference Print Collection is explained ,,, "When it was decided in 1939 that the railway facilities at the current Chullora Railway Workshops would be used for a new aircraft assembly factory in the production of the Beaufort bomber aircraft, a portion of the Locomotive Workshop was appropriated and extended to the east and south. Defence activities began at the current Chullora Railway Workshops in 1940 upon the completion of the first stage of the Aircraft Annex South (Building 21.1) followed by the construction of the Aircraft Annex East (Building 21.2). Ha! I should have looked near the source at State Records NSW in the first place - investigator.records.nsw.gov.au/asp/photosearch/photo.asp... - "Assembly of observer's canopy, Beaufort Bomber" with the same date, 25/3/1942.
