    For those who don't know, those shack-things were rolled up to the waters edge, and proper ladies would enter from the beach side. They would change there, and exit out by the water, in perfect modesty. I forget the name of them.

    The name in spanish of the "bathing machines" is "caseta de baños": "little house for baths". This is a photo of the famous "Playa de la Concha" "Beach of La Concha", in San sebastian. At the end it could see the Igeldo Mountain an the Santa Clara Island

    Known as bathing boxes, All bathers were obliged to undress in this kind of box. The box would be pulled by donkey to the waters edge, and when the tide turned it would be pulled back up to the sea wall.

    At last; Kilkee !!! My fathers family was from a townland just outside Kilkee called Kilfearagh !!! But this is where everybody ended up. I have 7 or 8 first cousins living in Kilkee.

    I think 1880 looks good, The terrace of two storey houses looks new, and very like this house from c. 1880. OS 25" map is identical, from 1896, totally different from the 1840 6".
