    This is the Lockheed XP-58 "Chain Lightning" (Model 20-86) 41-2670 prototype "bomber destroyer" in flight (1st flight on 6 Jun 44). After a succession of engine failures / terminations and other hydraulic / electrical issues on test flights, the AAF decided that it didn't need two-place heavy fighter bomber destroyers after all and the project was cnx'd. Probably scrapped at Wright-Pat AFB in the late '40's; second XP-58 was abandoned before completion.
