CV-440-12, s/n 336. Delivered to Sabena 17 July 1956 and registered OO-SCL. WFU and went to Frontier Airlines 10 December 1967 as N73160. Converted to CV-580 1968. Last went to Aspen Airways 9 December 1988. Written off 20 January 1989. Received substantial damage in a forced landing near Buena Vista, CO due to engine failure. The aircraft landed on a dirt road, hit a fence and a log pile caused the nose gear to collapse.

Cal Sierra at Lake Tahoe, surely one of the most attractive airports with commercial service in the USA at the time.

Cal Sierra first appeared in the 11/80 OAG: two daily round trips SAN-TVL eff 15 Nov. In the 6/81 OAG, eight flights a week each way, some Subj Govt Approval; on a Friday one would arrive TVL at 1030 (this one?) and another at 1845. In the 12/81 OAG, no nonstops-- just SAN-BUR-TVL.

Very cool! Few pics of this airline and the only one I've seen of them at TVL.
