    CV-340-32, s/n 6. To Braniff 26 July 1952 as N3406. To Caribbean Atlantic Airlines 30 April 1964. Converted to CV-640 1966. Scrapped 1976.

From where do you have that this one was converted to a 640 Gary? It is not on the masterlist produced by General Dynamics in 1977. By the way the date 3 Oct 1969 must be way off. Did Braniff make a return visit in 1959 perhaps? Stig

Stig Jarlevik Another strange date stamped by Convair
  • Stig Jarlevik said:
Yes it seems like a filing date or something similar. It is the same date as the other one I made a comment about Stig

CV-340-30, s/n 1. First flew 5 October 1951. To Phillips Petroleum Corporation 1 January 1953. To SUBSECRETARIA DE AVIACION CIVIL 24 June 1966 as EC-BBV. WFU October 1973 at Madrid, Spain and later scrapped.
  • Stig Jarlevik said:
I have some different details Gary Most sources claim EC-BBV was registered 28 May 1966. Was 24 June the delivery date?? The Oct 1973 date must be wrong since there is one photo of the aircraft taken at Gran Canarias in Jan 1975. I don't know when it was actually wfu, but it has been consistently stated to have been transferred to the Spanish AF in 1979 as spare parts for their Convair 440 fleet. Stig
