Ferry boat, New York (LOC)

This is the Ferry Weehawken. The Weehawken was part of the West Shore Railroad (subsidiary of the NY Central Lines) and ran between the West Shore's southern rail terminus at Weehawken and Manhattan terminals at 42nd St and Cortlandt St. Since the ferry is heading south with the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western's 12th Street Pier (near the Hoboken/Jersey City line) in the background it's safe to say it's on the way to Cortlandt St. This photo is actually looking across the route of the (yet to be built) Holland Tunnel. To give perspective, the pier in the background is currently the NJ end of the Holland Tunnel and the photographer would have been standing near the Manhattan end of the Tunnel.

Seuss, Thanks for the better identification of this ferry boat. We will add more information to the record.
