To me they look like wood made moonshine bottles but i'll ask an expert, i might be wrong.

grytlappar Yes, my hunch was confirmed: wood or ceramic recipient dedicated exclusively to keep the moonshine („ploscă“ in romanian). Still in use today :D

Brilliant! This is a fine group shot and like grytlappar I was struggling to understand what the containers were. I saw one in an earlier group but thought that the man had a motorcycle helmet in his hand. Moonshine is universal, here in Ireland we have Poitin - dangerous stuff!
