    Although a German bomber, this cannot be qualified as a 'giant' bombers produced in Germany during WW1. The picture shows an A.E.G. G.IV twin-engined bomber.

    The AEG G.IV was numbered G 588/17 and is seen in Amiens, soon after it was brought down on May 16th 1918. See Windsock Datafile 51 for more photos of this particular aircraft. Other AEG G.IV

    just to add that the MG08 fitted to a sled was never meant to be manouverable. The Germans were masters of the 'area' weapon at the beginning of WWI and indeed smaller trench mounts were made for the 08 increasing front line use. Finally the lewis was around in 1914.
