Many of the carpenters who constructed and repair these homes were later commonly referred to as "Stormies," as a result of having learnt their trade on the job, after the passage of Janet. But never- the- less, these pre-fab homes were well built, with some surviving up to the mid 70's.These team of carpenters were under the direct supervision of Master Carpenters of the day.One of whom I recalled in the St Joseph area by the name of Sonny Marshall.

Audience comments from the Caribbean Photographic Memories session, Leeds West Indian Centre, October 2013: Quite a few wartime service men returned to the UK after World War Two and several in Leeds are still alive. Arthur France said many still belong to the Caribbean Cricket Association in Leeds, or come in regularly to the Leeds West Indian Centre. Carl Hylton indicated that we need to make opportunities to get them to talk about their wartime experiences and early life in Leeds. Audrey Dewjee talked about Nadia Cattouse, who was born in British Honduras and served in Scotland as a signals operator – she had been well treated there. She is almost ninety years old now and lives in London.
