My mum, Jeanette Laird, says that the building on the corner of Marine Square and Broadway, used to be Huggins, an import and export business. The offices of BOAC used to be on the top floor. The building was one of the first "high rise" buildings in Trinidad.

This building was designed by Colin Laird. It was the winning design in a Regional Architectural Competition for which money was raised by May Johnson, Trinidad Music Festival Association. It was featured in many architectural publications of its time for its structural achievements.

Seeing this building in its original context/environment with the mountains as the backdrop and the expanse of land at the front gives it new meaning. This is beautiful.
