View of Central, probably from Flagstaff House. Photo very similar to City of Victoria, 3rd ed 1999, p.14. Murray Barrack in the foreground. St John's Cathedral on the left. City Hall near the water front in the centre. Only the praya (Des Voeux Road) was seen. Not much seen of the Central reclamation in 1890. So this could have been taken before 1890.

The upper photo is the same as in City of Victoria 四環九約 2nd ed 1999 p. 53. The street sign above the big porch on the left said Tung Loi Street 東來街 present day Tung Loi Lane, between Connaught Road West and Wing Lok Street. The decorations in the centre is for the royal visit of Prince Albert Victor and Prince George (later King George V) in 1881.
