    Audience comments from the Caribbean Photographic Memories session, Leeds West Indian Centre, October 2013: Paul Auber noted that ‘Station Hill’ was a recurring theme in many areas of the Colonial British Empire, in Africa and the Caribbean. This was usually associated with the military or police or in this case a penal institution. This fact was later confirmed when we viewed SLIDE 19: ‘A parade of Jamaica Regiment recruits at Newton Hill Station’. Carl Hylton noted that some of the seated guards at Glendairy Prison on the front row – had their truncheons drawn like gunfighters in the USA old west who displayed their weapons openly when photographed.
