And what a pity !!!! This church since the passage of Tropical Storm Tomas and an earth tremor in 2007, has been badly damaged and is due for demolition sometime this month ,September 2012 . (See my photostream for recent photos). This church was built in 1838,following a the abandonment of a smaller church located about a mile away in what was then Frizers Road. This old original parish church,although in bad shape is still standing. (see my FlickR photostream)

This was usually associated with the military or police or in this case a penal institution. This fact was later confirmed when we viewed SLIDE 19: ‘A parade of Jamaica Regiment recruits at Newton Hill Station’. Carl Hylton noted that some of the seated guards at Glendairy Prison on the front row – had their truncheons drawn like gunfighters in the USA old west who displayed their weapons openly when photographed.
