At the top of the page in pencil is written Paardeberg. This was the scene of a Boer War battle. The Battle of Paardeberg or Perdeberg ("Horse Mountain") was a major battle during the Second Anglo-Boer War. It was fought near Paardeberg Drift on the banks of the Modder River in the Orange Free State near Kimberley. (From Wikipedia)

    60. From modern day Wynberg, looking SSW toward Cape Point and Simonstown (naval dockyard). View of Muizenberg mountain in the distance. The bush on the left-hand side of the picture has blocked out the distant view of the Simonsberg mountain at Simonstown.

I have noticed many captions of the photographer have been given as "Winburg" Cape Town. The author means "Wynberg" which is translated as Wine-berg or Wine-mountain. In the Free State album for Winburg the cataloguer has understandably been mislead and some of these too are Wynberg, CapeTown.
