    A fascinating set of views. I know the engineer Bouch was well-known for his lightweight bridges on other railways, but this group of photos gives a graphic impression of the fragility of the first Tay Bridge.

    The bridge collapsed in a storm the night of the 28th December 1879. Unfortunately a train was on it at the time and the 75 passengers and crew on board were killed.
