    This is the armored cruiser USS New York (ACR-2), of Spanish-American War fame, later renamed the USS Saratoga, then the USS Rochester in 1917.

    This ship was commissioned as New York (ACR-2) in 1893. She was renamed Saratoga in 1911 to make the name New York available for BB-34. Her name was changed again to Rochester in 1917 to free the name for the cruiser CC-3 which was completed as the second US Navy aircraft carrier CV-3. Rochester was decommissioned in 1933 and remained moored in Subic Bay, Phillipines until she was scuttled in December 1941 to prevent her capture by Japanese forces.
