Aviator and Test Pilot Moye Stephens in the aft cockpit and adventurer Richard Halliburton in the front cockpit of the Stearman C-3B (NX882N / NR882N / NC882N ; c/n 248) named "The Flying Carpet." Halliburton and Stephens' flight around the world and the name of the aircraft subsequently provided the subject matter and title of Halliburton's 1932 best-seller.
