I attended school here, I lived 1/2 block from the school on what is now Strawberry St.

We called them "Patrol Boys" and if you jay walked you got reported to your teacher and she then would single you out for discipline(ususally a note to mom) I was a patrol boy and only ever repoerted kids 2 or 3 times in my entire career ! In those days kids did NOT HAVE THE RIGHT-OF-WAY but had to wait for traffic to clear !! Today the little snots walk out in front of you and if you refuse to stop you get a ticket !!! There is no justice !! I don't mean that we should run kids over but it seems disrespectful to the adults driving the cars, especially when the kids taunt you by running out daring you to proceed !
