Indian Head is believed to have had the most grain elevators of any Saskatchewan community - there were apparently 12, along with a flour mill.

There were 13 Elevators...It was considered the Largest Grain Shipping point in the World at one time....Now there are two Wooden Elevators & One Concrete Elevator...All owned by Paterson Grain.. Dan in Beautiful Historic Indian Head, Saskatchewan. Est 1882

Hello Archives, I checked Bill Barry's Geographic Names of Saskatchewan, THE book on SK place names. Separator is not listed. Maybe the separator reference is about a threshing machine, sometimes called a separator.
