After August, 1914, Major-General L.B. Friend was head of the Irish Command, commanding all British forces in Ireland. Here, from another part of The Commons is his Martial Law proclamation from around the time of the Easter Uprising in 1916:

"Major General Sir Lovick Bransby Friend KBE, CB, PC (25 April 1856 — 19 November 1944) was a British Army major general and cricketer.
