  The eclipse was April 12, 1917. It was an "annular" (not total) eclipse, but was close to total in Paris, and is sometimes called the "Titanic eclipse" because it happened just two days after the Titanic sank.   I just looked up information on the eclipse to see if we need to change our cataloging data, and discovered that the GEH record is correct. The eclipse in the photograph took place on April 17, 1912 and the Titanic sank on April 15, 1912. Yes, very cool links!
