Comparison with the previous photo is Quite Interesting. This photo shows the extra parapets built at the top of the pylons during WW2 - "In 1942, the pylons were modified to include parapets and anti-aircraft guns designed to assist in both Australia’s defence and general war effort. These 'red rattler' trains were still in use, well into the 70s (even 80s?)

Last single deck trains retired in about 1993. But the last ones in use were the last batch made, made around 1958 with the automatic doors.
