Unfortunately the mindset of that war was all about mass murder, and no lines existed between soldier and civilian: "Bomber" Harris wasn't alone in that. Ruefully, I have to say that Harris was a man who was ahead of his time... Curtis Lemay carried on the legacy.

Tee.Es A useless butcher, eh? Perhaps it would be as well to remember that they who sow the wind reap the whirlwind? What did Germany expect? That the rest of us would lie down and wait to be walked over? What does the good book say/?.. "as ye sow, so shall ye reap." Or have you forgotten who started it all? Well said Jack! Exterminating millions of innocent Jews, Gypsies, Russians, the mentally handicapped, peoples of all nations, including Germans, who did not fit into the insane and disgusting Nazi racial ideal, now that was butchery!

yes ... u re right. Didn't wanna excuse the nazi crimes! Just said the mass bombing of civilian population was useless and also a warcrime. German warproduction was not very much effected. It raised until short before surrender. With the loss of terrain by landforces warproduction collapsed The terrorbombardments just forged the germans together ... it did not effect german morale. Bomber Harris is a warcriminal, especially for all the unneccecary bombardments of fleeing civilians shortly before victory. Revenge came over humanity.

I was curious to know more about this, so did a Google search: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Chastise I would never have guessed this was the start of the Dam Busters! I got to see the Lady Bower Reservoir (where they practiced dropping the bombs) last year, and it was beautiful!
