    Unfortunately the mindset of that war was all about mass murder, and no lines existed between soldier and civilian: "Bomber" Harris wasn't alone in that. Ruefully, I have to say that Harris was a man who was ahead of his time... Curtis Lemay carried on the legacy.

    yes ... u re right. Didn't wanna excuse the nazi crimes! Just said the mass bombing of civilian population was useless and also a warcrime. German warproduction was not very much effected. It raised until short before surrender. With the loss of terrain by landforces warproduction collapsed The terrorbombardments just forged the germans together ... it did not effect german morale. Bomber Harris is a warcriminal, especially for all the unneccecary bombardments of fleeing civilians shortly before victory. Revenge came over humanity.

    My uncle was part of the ground crew for the Dambusters. He had a life-long love for Lancasters and when I took him to the Aviation Heritage Centre at East Kirkby in 2001, he was thrilled to be reunited with one of his girls.
