  Oakland City Hall. When built, I think it was the tallest building west of the Mississippi. I worked in it for a year on the sixth floor. I always worried about quick egress in case of an emergency. The stairs were small and circular. The building relied on an elevator, which in an emergency, wouldn't be used.
