He was born Robert Francis Brydges Naylor and according to the 1891 census was living at Hazeldean, Cuckfield, Sussex with his mother, 2 sisters, 1 brother, 2 visitors and 8 servants. In the 1901 census he is recorded as being at the Winton House Private School, Andover Road, Winchester. In the 1911 Census he is a Lieutenant with the 1st Btn South Staffs Regtstationed at South Barracks Gibraltar. According to London Gazette 26 November 1917 Capt.RFB Naylor MC, S> Staffs Regt. relinquishes the acting rank of Maj on ceasing to command a Divl Sig Co on 20 Sept 1917. School, Cheltenham College. Matric. Michs. 1867; B.A. and LL.B. 1871. Adm. at the Inner Temple, Apr. 29, 1869. Called to the Bar, Jan. 26, 1874. On the North-Eastern Circuit. Frank Naylor was also a distinguished athlete. He was interested in all forms of sport, was Victor Ludorum at Charterhouse and Sandhurst. He broke the Army record for the long jump at 23 feet and 2 and a half inches in 1913 and this was only surpassed in 1945. He was irish Amateur Athletic Champion in 1914 and represented Ireland in the long jump and hurdles. He was to have competed in the Olympic Games of 1916 had it not been for WW1. In his later life he was very involved with the Royal National Rose Society of which he was President 1963-4 and 1976 -68.

Cdr Cedric Naylor born 12 June 1891, DSO and 2 Bars,DSC. Served in RNR, transferred to RN with seniority as Lieutenant 19 December 1916 and Lieutenant Commander 19 December 1924. retired as Commander 12 June 1936. Recalled for war service in 1939. Retired with War Service rank of Acting Captain in August 1945. Service record available online.
