After Dutch troops had to intervene due to the actions of the military and civil republican authorities at Palembang, immediate action was taken to help the hard hit population. The Red Cross was present at the spot and established policlinics to handle the medical emergency of the Indonesian and Chinese population

    I reckon this is the original 1940's propagandistic text of the photo --if so, it really shows colonialism at its end. I personally find the combination of photo and text sickening, but also very educational --a strong image out of Dutch history.
